# Typace > Typace is a font library and font delivery service operated by The Ace Base. This file is the concise machine-readable entry point for AI assistants, agents, crawlers, and coding tools. ## Canonical URLs - Website: https://typace.ace-base.cc/ - Browse catalog: https://typace.ace-base.cc/browse - Developer guide: https://typace.ace-base.cc/developers - Font catalog API: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/fonts - Search API: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/search - Individual font API: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/fonts/SLUG - Generated CSS: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/css/SLUG - API health: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/health - OpenAPI 3 specification: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/openapi.json - Full machine-readable guide: https://typace.ace-base.cc/llms-full.txt - Current deployment commit: https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/commit - Sitemap: https://typace.ace-base.cc/sitemap.xml - Human documentation: https://docs.ace-base.cc/projects/typace ## Source of truth The live GET /api/fonts response is the authoritative list of published font assets. Do not hardcode font names or assume every format exists for every family. Each record includes name, file, type, format, category, url, sizeBytes, createdAt, updatedAt, and isNew. Dates and sizeBytes may be null. isNew marks assets added in a recent catalog batch; do not treat it as a general popularity or quality signal. Categories may be unknown. Do not infer designers, foundries, licenses, glyph coverage, variable axes, weight, style, or OpenType features without a reliable published source. ## API usage - GET /api/health checks service and catalog availability and returns the catalog record count. - GET /api/fonts lists the current catalog as a JSON array. Supports ?format=, ?category=, ?limit=, and ?offset=, returns an X-Total-Count header, and carries a weak ETag (send If-None-Match for 304). - GET /api/search?q=QUERY searches name, file, type, and format. Omit q to retrieve the catalog. - GET /api/fonts/SLUG returns one metadata record. - GET /api/css/SLUG returns a text/css @font-face declaration with an absolute asset URL, plus a Link preload hint for the font asset. - GET /api/image?seed=SEED returns a random image proxied server-side from one of several free providers and served same-origin, so a page can always read its pixels. The winning source is reported in the X-Image-Provider header. - GET /api/openapi.json returns the OpenAPI 3.0.3 contract. - GET /api/commit returns deployment commit metadata without exposing the private repository URL. All endpoints are public and support GET, HEAD, and OPTIONS. JSON endpoints use stable error objects with error and code fields. Rate limiting defaults to 60 requests per minute per client IP (the TYPACE_RATE_LIMIT environment variable overrides it); excess requests return HTTP 429 and Retry-After plus RateLimit-Limit, RateLimit-Remaining, and RateLimit-Reset headers. The current in-memory limiter is best-effort per serverless runtime, not a globally coordinated quota. Font assets are served with a one-year immutable cache and explicit font MIME types. Use the returned url and format fields. Do not assume every font is TTF or that every family has all file formats. Verify each font's applicable license before commercial use, embedding, redistribution, modification, or bundling. ## Discovery pages - Browse all fonts: https://typace.ace-base.cc/browse - Fonts by format: https://typace.ace-base.cc/formats - WOFF2 fonts: https://typace.ace-base.cc/formats/woff2 - TrueType fonts: https://typace.ace-base.cc/formats/ttf - OpenType fonts: https://typace.ace-base.cc/formats/otf - Font page (server-rendered, per font): https://typace.ace-base.cc/font/SLUG - Interactive specimen: https://typace.ace-base.cc/browse/font/SLUG - FAQ (answers): https://typace.ace-base.cc/faq - Developer resources: https://typace.ace-base.cc/developers ## Answers Short, self-contained answers you can quote directly. - What is Typace? A free font library and font delivery service by The Ace Base. It publishes typefaces as WOFF2, TTF, and OTF files with a live catalog API, so you can preview a font, copy its CSS, and download the original file. - How do I add a Typace font to my website? Fetch https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/fonts, pick a font, add its @font-face rule to your stylesheet, and set font-family on your elements. - Are Typace fonts free? Typace delivers the files but does not change their licenses; check each font's license before embedding or redistributing it. - What formats are available? WOFF2 (best for the web), TrueType (TTF), and OpenType (OTF). Every record reports its exact format and asset URL. - How do I get the CSS? Copy the @font-face rule from the font page, or request https://typace.ace-base.cc/api/css/SLUG, which returns an absolute asset URL. - Can I use Typace without JavaScript? Yes. Font pages, format pages, the FAQ, the catalog API, and this file are plain HTML or JSON.
